The State Puppet Theatre – Burgas is a professional theatre for children, founded in 1954. Since then, the characters of many Bulgarian and world children classics have lived under the spotlights of the theatre. With over 250 productions, more than 10 000 performances in front of almost 3 000 000 spectators; with many international tours in Europe, Asia, Africa and America, a plethora of individual and group awards from national and international festivals, the State Puppet Theatre – Burgas is one of the leading puppet theatres in the country. The company always maintains at least 20 productions and every season it produces 4 new ones and performs almost 300 times a season. In 2006 SPT Burgas was the first puppet theatre to receive the Ministry of Culture award for highest financial indicators and exceptional creative achievements.
