The Port of Burgas was founded after a decision for its construction, adopted with Decree No. 7/ December 20, 1894 by Prince Ferdinand I. In 1899 the first Bulgarian port light was lit. At its opening, the port is a 60-hectare pool, has three quay walls with a total front of 590 m and a water depth of 24 feet. Until then, all the work was manual.
Today it is a public transport port of national importance. It serves passenger, cruise ships and cargo ships. The state operator “Port of Burgas” SJSC applies an individual approach to the customers and optimal solutions to the problems, very good cargo service, guaranteed by the introduced management systems.
On May 18, 2003 the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Port of Burgas was celebrated.
