On the 1st of June we celebrate the International day of the child.
The idea for marking this day goes back to 1925, when the Chinese consul general in San Francisco, gathers several Chinese orphans and takes them to the holiday of the dragon-boats.
Later his initiative is continued. A charity campaign in the US and Europe holds an international conference about the health of children. In 1949 the day is officially declared for International day for protection of children, and in 1950, the 1st of June is marked for the first time in 51 countries all over the world.
In Bulgaria for the Day of the child are organized lots of celebrations and initiatives.
