The frigate "Gordi" is being shown for St. George's day

In the day of valor and holiday of the Bulgarian army, the frigate “Gordi” will open doors for visitors. On 5 May it will travel from its base point to Sea station at Port Burgas. “Gordi” is one of the three frigates from project “E-71”, received from the Kingdom of Belgium and is part of the Navy corps from 22.08.2008.

Here is the full program of the events that will mark St. George’s Day (6 May):

5 MAY:

-From 20.10 hours – festive switching on of the lighting of the frigate “Gordi”

-From 21.30 hours – festive illumination of Sea station – Burgas, organized by Municipality Burgas

6 MAY:

-From 09.00 hours – festive raising of the navy flags of the frigate “Gordi”

-From 09.30 to 17.00 hours – at square “Atanas Sirekov” in front of Municipality Burgas will be held an official ceremony of the military flags and public prayer for health of the Bulgarian soldiers from garrison Burgas by representatives of the Bulgarian Orthodox church, led by metropolitan bishop Yoanikius.

-From 12.20 hours – ceremony for laying wreaths and flowers to honor the fallen Bulgarian soldiers for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria at the monument of “24th infantry Black sea regiment” in front of Military club Burgas

-From 13.00 hours – ceremony and public prayer for health and success of the crew of frigate “Gordi”, led by metropolitan bishop Yoanikius.

Due to security considerations the visit to the frigate “Gordi” will be done in groups on an appointed route. The people, who wish to visit the ship, need to have their personal IDs and not bring big luggage.
