Municipality Burgas again joins the world initiative “Earth hour”, which is on the 28th of March.

The excessive rain and floods during the last 12 months caused a lot of damage, including in Burgas. This shows us, that we need to allocate the needed resource and attention at the steadfast control of rivers. Municipality Burgas appeals to all its citizens to support the cause and to join the “Earth hour”. Let’s turn off the lights in our homes in Saturday for 1 hour – from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. to show our standings on this global problem.

The ninth edition of “Earth hour” is expected to unite the world community on six continents in real actions for the climate. This year for Bulgaria the accent falls on the conservation of rivers, which are influenced by the temperature change, the rain falls and the attitude of people towards them. Blocked, polluted and with destroyed vegetation – in this condition the rivers cannot fulfil their natural functions and become dangerous.

“Hearth hour” was held for the first time in Australia in 2007. Then, for 1 hour, people express their will for dealing with climate change, by turning off the lights in their homes.
