BURGAS JOINED THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE

Burgas will join 44 European cities against the rising threat of climate change. The modern technologies will help in the undertaking. Yesterday, on the 25th, in Brussels the mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov signed the so called “Green digital charter”. The charter is part of the European initiative “Green Shift Europe”, which patronized by the European commission.

Burgas is the first city in Bulgaria and the first in south-eastern Europe to join this international initiative. The charter’s plan is for the signed cities to reduce by 30% the direct carbon pollution created by the information and communication technologies by the next 10 years. The preventive measures also include the usage of renewable energy sources, introduction of intelligent networks for public transport, energy efficient lighting systems and others.
