Another valuable icon was saved

Unusual and exciting meeting was held in the Regional Historical Museum- Burgas. Guests of the museum were people from “Social Center – Burgas” - an association of people with physical and sensory disabilities. Earlier this year they donated their own funds for the restoration of one of the icons in need of rescue, within the campaign of Regional History Museum-Burgas. The choice of which to be the icon also was not accidental - the desire of the donators was to be restored the icon “Blagoveshtenie”.

Touched by this kind donation the restorer Stoyan Zabunov offered to do the restoration, although the funds for it were less than the necessary.

As a sign of gratitude to the donators and the restorer, the team of the Historical Museum organized a meeting between them. For all participants it was very emotional, especially upon seeing the restored icon.

The meeting continued with an interesting presentation about 137 years from the Liberation of Burgas, which is celebrated on February 6.
