The project of the Burgas Art Gallery, Petko Zadgorski was approved for funding by the Ministry of Culture

The project of BHG "Petko Zadgorski" "Icons from Strandzha and the region of Burgas" was approved for full funding by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria. The main goal of the project is to present to the general public part of its rich collection of icons in a bilingual album. These specimens were collected in the 1960s and 1970s from abandoned and half-destroyed places of worship in the region and stored in the BHG. In these selected church images one can trace the influence of different icon painting styles and schools. Some of the icons represent the typical for the region view of the local painter influenced by the beliefs and traditions characteristic of the Strandzha region.

The project is funded by the PROJECT FINANCING PROGRAM IN THE FIELD OF MOVABLE CULTURAL HERITAGE, MUSEUMS AND VISUAL ARTS.
