Burgas is a unique place for every fan of nature and birds. It is the only city not only in Bulgaria but also in Europe, within which there is a nature reserve and so many birds. The three large lakes that surround Burgas have become a beautiful home and resting place for some of the most remarkable bird species, which annually attract locals and guests of the city. This is due to the second largest migration route "Via Pontica", passing along the entire coast.

October 10 /Saturday/ marks the International Day of Bird Migration. On this occasion, teams of the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation and the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds will be waiting for you at two of the most interesting and intensive bird watching points in the city:
- at the bird watching shelter on Atanasovsko Lake /at the exit for Sarafovo, next to the Lukoil gas station/;
- in "Poda" Nature Protection Center on Mandra Lake /on the road to Kraimorie/.

Currently, the lakes are full of different species of birds.
- The bird watching shelter will receive visitors from 10:00 to 12:00.
- "Poda" Nature Protection Center is open from 09:00 to 17:00.
Another wonderful addition to the region are the bike lanes that connect Atanasovsko Lake to the north and "Poda" - Mandra to the south. This is a great idea for the weekend - to combine ornithological tourism with a walk in nature.
