The fishing village of Chengene Skele near Burgas has the prospect of becoming a tourist product for the local municipality to develop. The first steps for this have been taken with the implementation of a project for the protection and promotion of the identity of the village, funded by the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Program.

A study of the intangible cultural heritage related to fisheries in the Burgas Bay is currently underway. A conceptual concept for the new tourist product and the construction of an ethnographic exposition in the village is being prepared.

The tourist destination will also perform an educational function to enrich the knowledge of young people about traditional crafts, authentic customs of Burgas fishermen and local folklore.
