For another year we`ll count the wintering waterbirds in Bulgaria

From January 9 to January 12, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) organizes a bird countingof wintering waterbirds in Bulgaria. More than 100 volunteers, BSPB members and participating partners will join forces in more than 40 teams. They will visit all major reservoirs in the country. Over the same period birds will also be counted in almost all European countries, countries from Africa and the Middle East.

In Bulgaria will be covered over 200 wetlands including the Danube and the Black Sea coast and all major dams and rivers inland. Participants will take into account the number, type and distribution of birds. The results will answer the question more or less are the birds in Bulgaria this winter and what are the main threats to them.
