This week our city will host the European Maritime Day

The European Maritime Day 2018 will be held in Burgas on May 31 and June 1 at the Burgas Free University. The event is organized by the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission, in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, and the Municipality of Burgas.

The conference will be opened at 13:45 on 31 May by the mayor Dimitar Nikolov as a host, Mr. Karmenu Vella - European Commissioner for the Environment and Maritime Policy, Ms. Iskra Mihailova - Chairman of the Committee on Regional Policy in the European Parliament, Mr. Ivaylo Moskovski - Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as ministers from the other five countries bordering the Black Sea, who will sign a joint declaration on its sustainable development and conservation of its natural resources.

The conference will bring in Burgas over 500 industry leaders, including ministers, commissioners, parliamentarians, academics, scientists and marine experts.

The conference program includes:

- 18 seminars;

- Political opening with ministers from coastal states in the Black Sea;

- "Black Sea Big Bang" High Level Debate - How to stimulate sustainable blue growth, generate investment and increase cooperation for the Black Sea Economic boom;

- Session on the topic of facilitating access to EU funds through "Blue Development" projects and Black Sea Basin partner projects.
