Parliament approved the establishment of tourist police

According to the law, until now the control of the provided tourist services was carried out by the Commission for Consumer Protection (CPC). Now it will have a follow-up function - the established protocols will be sent to the CPC for additional control and sanctions. For such a possibility, the Minister of Tourism has spoken since last year. The new control unit will inspect persons providing tourist services as well as tourist sites, hotels, beaches, restaurants and more.

The changes bring more serious guarantees for the protection of tourists. The trader will be obliged to refund the amount paid to the traveler if the tourist services or part of them has not been attributable to the tour operator's fault due to insolvency. The Ministry of Tourism will be the central contact point for the other EU countries in the provision of tourist services.

Besides Bulgarians professions as a guide, mountain guide and ski instructor will be able to be exercised and by citizens of the country - an EU member and a country - party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or from Switzerland.
