The tale of Atanasovsko lake, as part of the Salt of Life project, competes for the prestigious European Natura 2000 Award in the Communications category. The awarding ceremony will be held on May 17, 2018 in Brussels.

This is the fourth edition of the European prize to reward excellence in managing Natura 2000 sites and to show the added value of the network for local economies.

The innovative travel exhibition "symBiotic" was presented in 13 Bulgarian cities and seen by more than 30,000 people. The annual Salt Festival is an event with an amazing atmosphere that offers visitors the opportunity to be saltmaker for a day, to participate in unique activities or enjoy the salt train only during the holiday. Team efforts culminated in the creation and popularization of the "Salt Path", visited by 335,000 people over the last 5 years. The Avocet path, the birthday of the Reserve, the lake's name day - Atanasovden, the Carnival of Biodiversity, are just some of their varied efforts to popularize the lake in front of different audiences.
