Burgas will host "European Maritime Day" and a meeting of the Directors-General for Fisheries and Fisheries Attachés

As part of Bulgaria's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the city of Burgas will host the European Maritime Day - 31 May - 01 June 2018, as well as a Meeting of the Directors-General for Fisheries and Fisheries Attachés - 06 June - 07 June 2018. Burgas Municipality will organize events through which to focus on marine archaeological studies in Bulgarian waters of the Black Sea, sunken villages and ships.

The exhibition "Hidden secrets of the Black Sea" will be arranged in the Hall "Alexander Georgiev Kodjakafaliyata" of the Cultural Center "Sea Casino" from 31.05.2018 to 30.07.2018. The space in the exhibition hall will be transformed in a way that will recreate the underwater Black Sea world.

The interactive exposition "Black Sea researchers" for children will welcome the youngest visitors in the "Hristo Fotev" Hall of the Cultural Center. In the exhibition, in an accessible and intriguing way, the scientific information from the researches will be presented.

At a three-day conference / 31.05.2018-03.06.2018 / National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Center for Underwater Archeology, Regional Museum of History in Burgas and other institutes will present scientific papers on the subject related to archaeological research in the Black Sea.

The series of events will show the cultural aspects and significance of the sea in the context of the archaeological surveys of sunken ships in the Bulgarian Black Sea and Black Sea coastal waters.
