Over 800 people have signed up till now for the first mini city marathon in Burgas, which will be held this Saturday /October 10/.
The sports initiative is part of the program "Burgas - European city of sports" and aims to gather at one place all the fans of active and healthy way of life. The organizers of Galleria Run are Municipality Burgas and Mall Galleria.
The competitors are from Burgas, Aytos, Nesebar and Sozopol, They will be divided in 4 age groups. The youngest are from 6 to 9 and 10 to 14 years old and will compete in 60 meter dash, on the parking of Mall Galleria. The older enthusiasts from 15 to 17 and over 18 will follow the route from the terrace of the Sea garden to the mall.
This was announced at a press conference by Rumyana Vladimirova - mall-manager, deputy mayor of Burgas Yordanka Ananieva, Ivo Marinov - regional manager of Nike, Nikolay Todorov - executive director of PFC "Neftohimik 1962" and Stanislav Jekov - capitan of PFC "Neftohimik".
"The route will be from the terrace near the "Sea casino" along str. "Bogoridi" - "Aleksandrovska" - "Vanche Mihaylov" - "Struga" and "Yanko Komitov" to mall "Galleria", said Rumyana Vladimirova.
"Municipality Burgas supports every initiative, related to sports and healthy way of life. The efforts are aimed to improve the sports infrastructure of the city and the sports grounds of the schools, and the newest thing is our wish to introduce a healthy way of eating among the children and youths", added the deputy mayor Yordanka Ananieva.
The starting hour of the sports initiative is this Saturday from 10.00. The starts of the first two age groups are at 10.30, and the following at 11.00 hours. One of the starts will be given by the new world karate kyokushin champion - the 24 year old Stanislava Boycheva from Burgas.
The participants will have the chance to win financial and item prizes at a total value of over 7000 leva. There will be awards for youngest and oldest runner. The prize fund is provided by Mall Galleria and the official partner of the initiative - Nike.
