The program of Burgas musical holidays “Emil Chakarov 2015” continues with two big titles – the operas “La Traviata” and “Nabucco”. On 26 August the beautiful courtesan Violetta Valery will make the public sympathize with her honest, but doomed love for the young Alfredo Germont. Thanks to the different directorship and scenography, the public will witness one familiar story, but with much greater charge. Director of the opera is Aleksandar Tekeliev – head of State opera Burgas, and the sets and costumes are by the famous Romanian scenographer Catalin Arbore. The premiere of “La Traviata” was on June 19 in the Opera house and received the ovations of the public. Non in front of the team of maestro Tekeliev is the challenge to make and place the massive mirror sets on the stage of Summer theater.
The roles of Violetta and her lover Alfredo will be played by Veselina Vasileva and Daniel Damyanov. George Germont, father of Alfredo, will be performed by Maryan Yovanovski. Conductor will be Ivan Kojuharov, and conductor of the choir Nevena Mihaylova. Concertmaster is Yordan Kovachev. The choreography is work of the Prima ballerina of the Opera house Galina Kalcheva. “La Traviata” will be played this Wednesday, 26 August, from 20:30.
Burgas musical holidays “Emil Chakarov” continue on August 29 with another masterpiece by Verdi – “Nabucco”. On Saturday the stage of Summer theater will become a time machine and will take us back in time thousands of years, to show us the dramatic events after the attack on the Jewish people. They are conquered by the Babylonians, and later exiled by Nabucco. In the work of the genius Verdi, love, vengeance and greed for power intertwine very skillfully, to reach an end with repentance and salvation of the Jewish people. The thing, that changes the course of events, is the love between the youngest daughter of Nabucco – Fenena and the son of the king of Jerusalem – Ismaele. The lovers will be played by Shmilena Sultanova and Georgi Sultanov. The main role of the authoritative Nabucco will be played by the baritone Maryan Yovanovski. In the role of the insidious sister Abigaille, who wants everything – the crown of Babylon and the heart of Ismaele will be played by the soprano Gabriela Georgieva. She is a regular guest-soloist on world stages, and one of the biggest recognitions of her talents is the invitation she received recently for a cover (double) of the great Anna Netrebko in Metropolitan opera.
“Nabucco” starts at 20:30 hours. Conductor of the opera is Ivaylo Krinchev, director – Pavel Gerdjikov, conductor of the choir – Nevena Mihaylova, and concertmaster – Yordan Kovachev.
The last day of the month is reserved for “Romeo and Juliet”. On August 31 the prima ballerina of Burgas opera house Galina Kalcheva will be in the role of Juliet, to tell the story of the eternal feud between the families Montague and Capulet with a dance. In the role of Romeo we will see the soloist of the Sofia national opera Emil Yordanov, who is known to the public also from his role of the Prince in “Cinderella”.
The performance on the music of Sergei Prokofiev will offer to the public impressive sets, beautiful dancing and dramatic lighting, which will re-create the tense atmosphere between the two noble families in Verona. In the role of Tybalt, the nephew of signora Capulet will be Martin Chakalov. In the role of Mercution, the friend of Rome and killed by Tybalt, will be the leading soloist of the Burgas opera house Nedko Georgiev. The comic role of Juliet’s wet-nurse of will be portrayed by the talented Antonia Paskaleva. The scenography and costumes are works of Radostin Chomakov and Chavdar Chomakov. The choreography and directorship are by prof. Hikmet Mehmedov. “Romeo and Juliet” starts at 20:30 hours.
