Burgas will have another big sports weekend this week.
For one week in Burgas bay was held the European sailing championship for class 420 and class 470. Yachtsmen from 30 countries are competing for the first places. The championship ends on 15 August /Saturday/, and the official closing ceremony will be at 18:00 hours at open-air stage “Ohluva” in the Sea garden.
A state table tennis tournament for healthy and people with disabilities will be held on Friday and Saturday, in sports hall “Mladost”. A prize fund has been provided – 200 lv for 1st place, 100 for 2nd and 50 for 3rd. Over 100 competitors will take part in the event, including tennis players from foreign countries – Israel, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Russia.
The state championship for strong men “Iron man” will shake square “Troykata” on August 15 /Saturday/. The start is at 18:30 hours and the event will continue for 3 hours. The tournament is under the patronage of the mayor Dimitar Nikolov. 10 of the strongest men in Bulgaria will compete for the first places. There will be a total of 6 disciplines. Adrenaline, strong men, beautiful women, free beer and more surprises await the spectators of the show “Iron man” in Burgas.
For the final of the week, on 16 August /Sunday/, will be held the traditional swimming marathon from island Saint Anastasia to the Pier. In the battle for the prize-winning places /6000 leva prize fund/ will be men and women, boys and girls from the age of 14 to 60. At 7:00 hours at Sea station begins the registration for the event, the medical check-ups and the instructions.
The start of the marathons is at 10:05 from island Saint Anastasia. The distance, which the swimmers need to cover, in any swimming style, is 6 400 meters.
The winners in the categories /men and women/ will receive 1000 leva. For second place the prize is 600, for third – 400, fourth – 300, fifth – 250, sixth – 200, seventh – 150 and eighth – 100.
All these events guarantee a fun sports weekend, hot emotions for the athletes, as well as for the spectators and guests of the city.
