Incited by their old friend Don Alfonso, Fernando and Guglielmo put the loyalty of their loved ones to a funny test. Disguised as unknown foreigners, they meet up with Fiordiligi and Dorabella and begin flirting, which leads to unexpected situations. Until recently faithful to Fernando and Guglielmo, the two noble women fall into the hands of their “new” suitors, and even promising marriage. The unpleasant turn of events proves the thesis of Alfonso about the variable nature of women and its truthfulness, which Mozart compares to the Fenix – everyone says it exists, but none have seen it.
