In this performance, the PIRIN Ensemble transforms the heritage of traditional folklore into an influential contemporary art.
The first part "From grief comes your name", unfolds the emotional atmosphere of the songs and dances dedicated to the liberation struggles in the Southwestern Bulgarian lands.
It is an atmosphere of sorrow, but also of firmness, of pain, but also of strength and human dignity.
The second part "Bread, salt and wine" emphasizes the main metaphors of life and its affirmation.
Folklore samples from the entire ethnic territory of Bulgaria have been recreated, in which rituals and mythology, work and merriment are intertwined.
